Sexual Abuse
Support Groups
There is something powerful about a group of individuals with shared experience and motivation coming together to build a community. Great things can happen when people experience the safety of understanding, support, and a desire for growth. And that is exactly the type of experience we want you to find in a survivor-led Saprea Support Group.
What Happens at a
Saprea Support Group?
Support groups are led by survivors for survivors. We have identified some best practices and guidelines to ensure that, when followed, support groups offer emotional safety, confidentiality, and create the optimal environment for healing.
Each Meeting, Group members can participate in:
- Sharing feelings about triumphs or challenges.
- Offering support and understanding.
- Learning strategies for managing trauma symptoms.
- Setting intentions and identifying goals.
- Personal reflection.
Saprea Support groups create a safe place to express yourself, and start your healing journey
Our clinically informed activities and resources, all of which have been reviewed by our team of licensed therapists, are a great springboard for you to understand trauma and its impact on the brain and body. This information can help you to notice how those impacts may be affecting you, empowering you to make small, intentional adjustments that can change your relationship with the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.
If you still have questions, attend one of our interest meetings where your questions will be answered by Saprea staff.
